Privacy Policy

In accordance with our registration policy and the guidelines set forth by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the Children's Advertising Review Unit (CARU), Children as The Peacemaker Foundation and its Website Peace-Kids.org is committed to protecting the privacy of each visitor who registers with us. Here is an explanation of our Data Collection process.

1. Obtaining Parental Consent:
In compliance with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) which went into effect on April, 21, 2000, Children as The Peacemaker Foundation will require parental consent in order to keep in our records any registered user information from a child of 13 years old or under. Children under the age of 13 will be asked to provide at least one parent? email address. When we receive an application to participate in our Peace Prize Contest from a child 13 or under, parents will be notified via email of their child's registration and parents may cancel their Contest participation at any time by sending Peace-Kids.org an email.

2. What Information We Collect Via Registration.
Peace-Kids.org uses its best efforts to respect the privacy of its on-line visitors. All registration information is collected directly on a voluntary basis. We do not ask registered users for a real postal address. Instead they are invited only to provide information that Peace-Kids.org will need to qualify a child to enter our Peace Prize Contest.

3. How We Use the Registration Information.
Peace-Kids.org uses information from registered participants to notify them only of updates and information pertaining to the Peace Prize Contest, and of events and news of Children as The Peacemaker and Peace-Kids.org. Registered participants of Peace Prize Contest may also receive periodic newsletter updates on new features in the Peace-Kids.org. Recipients may unsubscribe to these newsletters at any time. If a registered user wishes to unsubscribe from our newsletters, we will immediately delete his or her e-mail address from our system.

4. Privacy.
Under no circumstances do we share, rent or sell information about our registered users to any outside third party. All personally identifiable information is collected for our own purposes to help us better shape our content to meet the preferences of our audience.

5. Using "Cookie" Technology.
We use a software technology called "cookies" to collect non-personal information about our visitors. Such information includes: type of browser software a visitor uses to access the Internet (i.e. Internet Explorer 4.0 or Netscape 3.0, etc.); type of operating system (i.e. Windows 95, Macintosh, etc.); or the domain name of the visitor's Internet service provider. We also count the number of visitors who come to our site each day in an aggregate form. Such information allows us to better assess which attractions are best meeting our audience's needs. We also use "cookie" technology to track and provide visitor scores on designated contests and multi-player games. Again, Peace-Kids.org collects this personally identifiable information for internal purposes only.

In all of the above practices, it is the intention of Children as The Peacemaker Foundation to operate in full compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act and regulations promulgated by the Federal Trade Commission. We also adhere to the Children's Advertising Review Unit (CARU) guidelines on Internet advertising.
